Thanks for a Fantastic Experience!

Trading for the Mother Colony Paper Clip project has come to a close. Thank you very much for your interest, and a very special thank you to all who contributed:
Keith, Cynthia, Candy, Tracy, & George. Without your trades, I would still have a single paperclip. I appreciate your help.

The four theater chairs will be auctioned off on eBay. The proceeds will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).

I will write one more post once the chairs have sold and the donation has been made.

I thoroughly enjoyed this project, and was delighted to meet some new neighbors. I found the entire experience fulfilling on many levels.

My sincerest thanks and warmest Holiday wishes,

Dan

Item 6: Four Vintage Theater Chairs

Next up for trade is this set of 4 extremely cool, vintage theater chairs. I don’t know the history of the chairs, but based on their design, I’d estimate they’re probably from the 40’s or 50’s.

One of the seats has a finished side to face an aisle on the right side. All four chairs recline, and feature independent arm rests. The chairs are surprisingly comfortable. Additionally, all four chairs have a built-in pocket in their backs for programs, playbills, or remote controls. They’re in good condition, with a few scratches. However, the upholstery is in excellent shape. These chairs would add a unique touch to a retro home theater, or a basement or game room. They come as a full set of 4.

If you are interested in the chairs, and would like to get a closer look or make a trade, or you may have an idea of their history, please don’t hesitate to contact me at: retroranch@sbcglobal.net.

Sit back and relax… enjoy the show!

Clock / Ticket Blitz

In a blitz of two trades made within 15 minutes, the antique clock found a new home and a couple of ducks tickets went to a deserving fan. Tracy is now the happy owner of the clock.

She traded two lower-level tickets to tonight’s Ducks game.

George is the very deserving recipient of the tickets.

Enjoy the game George!

The next very cool trade is coming soon.

Item 4: Antique German Clock

The next item for trade is this beautiful antique clock. The exact date and manufacturer is unknown. However, the inside plate behind the face appears to have the word “GERMANY” printed on it, but has been partially rubbed off.

The clock mechanism has been replaced by an electric clock motor that runs off a single AA battery. The original chime is still in place, but does not function.

This wonderful clock is in excellent condition. There is a small chip in the top-right corner, but the finish and detail are exceptional. It seems to be hand-carved, and would look fantastic on any mantle.

(Coke for scale only)

If you’d like to find out more about this clock, or may be interested in trading for it, please contact me directly at retroranch@sbcglobal.net.

Don’t be late!

Item 3: Books for Vintage Home Lovers

Next up for trade is a collection of books for old house lovers. This collection of non-fiction and fiction is sure to complement any vintage home aficionado’s library. Click image to enlarge.

It covers a spectrum of topics, from Stonehenge to 20th-century décor. Literary works in this collection are:

Arts and Crafts Pottery and Ceramics: The Detailed Series
1994, Text by Joanna Wissinger, Photographs by Mark Seelan

Great American Homes
1997, Reader’s Digest Explore America

Curiously, the 20th-Century Decorating book seems to have been bound upside-down.

All of these fine books are in very good condition. If you would like more information on these books, or you have something you would like to trade for this collection, please contact me directly at retroranch@sbcglobal.net.

Happy Reading!
